Giving & receiving Feedback
Based on the reasons why performance is not as expected, feedback is not always the right answer. Most of the time, expectations were not as clear as we thought they were.
o not competent enough or not aware of the consequences
o problems and situations
o Attitude problem
To most of leaders, it seems obvious that team members know what is expected of them. They believe that their requests are clear, but unfortunately it is seldom the case.
Give and Receive Feedback
o Exercice : giving feedback to a team member before learning how to do it correctly.
o Rules of a good feedback : make the team member conscious of his behaviour and the consequences, make sure he realises he is the cause of the non desired effects)
o Observation / interpretation
o STAR-AR (Situation/Task – Action – Result – new Action – new Result)
o Exercice : giving feedback on bad results
Reframe or give challenging feedback
We are confronted to an attitude problem
o Demonstration of the STEP model
o Practial exercices.
o What motivates people according to leaders and to tem members
o Individual preferences based on the MBTI.
